Position: Support Workers (supported living)

Location: Holbeach

Salary: £8.30 increases with length of service

Hours: 37.5

About Us

Roman House’s philosophy is one of person centred support which gives choice and independence which enables service users to develop and maintain skills to give them opportunities and freedom to be as independent as possible. It is a supported living service situated in a pleasant village on the outskirts of Holbeach in Lincolnshire. Holbeach has a range of facilities including shops, a post office, village hall, public houses, church and library. There is a regular bus service into King’s Lynn, Spalding and Peterborough where the young people can access colleges and employment services, leisure centres, swimming pool, cinema, theatres and extensive shopping facilities. Holbeach is also near several seaside resorts. All the individuals we support will be involved within the local neighbourhood and community.

Role Overview – Support Worker 

You will provide care and support personalised to the people we support in line with their Care Plan. You will work within the team to provide individual high quality person-centred care to individuals we support, supporting each to reach their optimum potential (hopes and dreams).

The ability to drive and access to your own vehicle would be desirable, but it is not essential.

 Essential – Support Worker 

  • Willingness to achieve (training) in line with regulations
  • Good basic numeracy & literacy
  • Proficient in IT; Word, Outlook, Internet
  • Participation in a wide range of activities with the people we support in the Service and community
  • Willingness to provide a range of care, relating to individual care plans including personal care
  • Ability to work within policy, process and systems of work e.g. medication management
  • Professional manner and presentation
  • Good spoken and written English ability to record information accurately
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours e.g. early morning, evening, weekends, sleep-ins
  • Use own initiative and to multi-task
  • Work well in a team
  • Manage own stress levels
  • Communicate tasks effectively
  • Ability to managing conflict

Desirable – Support Worker

  • NVQ/QCF2 or 3 in Social Care Awareness or equivalent
  • 6 months experience in similar role or desire to work in the Health and Social Care Sector
  • Experience working with non-verbal communication methods
  • Experience of working with people with different needs and levels of complexity
  • Full driving licence to transport individuals we support in the community
  • Proven ability to problem solving
  • Experience working in a changing environment

Principal Tasks - Support Worker

  • Engages with and follows their Care Plans
  • Updates their Care Plans and risk assessments
  • Uses company processes to capture information and maintain individuals we support files
  • Undertakes identified goal-oriented activities and care for each individual
  • Offers and presents options to support and empower choice and independance
  • Responsible for the capture of outcome information and data, on company documentation and processes
  • Completes specific, delegated tasks to deadlines and quality standards
  • Provides key worker support
  • Act as advocate for the people we support
  • Works in partnership with colleagues, appropriate family, friends, others significant to the individual and care professionals
  • Ensure individuals are safeguarded by working within internal policies, medication management systems, staff handbook, all relevant external regulatory requirements (CQC, CSSIW, OFSTED etc.)
  • Responsible for your own, People we support and site visitor health and safety (H&S)
  • Works within company policies and procedures and relevant regulation at all times
