Description

Main purpose:

 

 

To enable the Service Users to lead a valued and fulfilling life and to maximise the potential capacity of all Service Users, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Scope of the job:

Service User support, general responsibilities and professional development.

• To work in within the philosophy of valuing people.

• To have a working knowledge of, and work in accordance with, Policies and Procedures and guidelines.

• To support the personalised development of each Service User, recognising talent, sensitivities and beliefs.

• To respect the dignity and individuality of each Service User and provide the Service Users with choices where appropriate.

• To ensure a high standard of personal care for each Service User, including matters of physical well-being and personal hygiene.

• To be aware of the emotional needs and aspirations of each Service User and provide opportunities for appropriate emotional expression.

• To follow consistently all agreed Care Plans, Risk Assessments and individual Service User guidelines, reporting any progress or problems with these.

• To ensure the safety of the Service Users at all times, reporting promptly any concerns about the health, safety and well-being of Service Users.

• To write detailed written records on the Service Users’ development.

• To accurately maintain all records as required by the Service Manager.

• To be aware of the main provisions of the relevant sector standards and regulations.

• To remain vigilant and awake at all times during night working hours in order to respond immediately to the needs of Service Users.

• To contribute to the overall cleaning of the home and involving Service Users in these tasks as appropriate.

• To be aware of and have available all contact details and telephone numbers that may be required in an emergency.

• To regularly attend staff meetings / seminars, individual support and supervision meetings during day time hours when necessary.
