Employer description:

My client is the market leading banking software provider. Wealth of experience in providing highly advanced and scalable technical architecture which is aligned with modern technology standards for deployment and integration. The Technology group are responsible for the development and maintenance of this infrastructure.

Overview:

The successful candidate will join the Technology department and gain exposure to various aspects of the software delivery lifecycle.

Main responsibilities:

May include but not be limited to:

  • Development of new features for the client's products, testing of new features in the client's products
  • Rollout of new features in the client's products (to internal and external users)
  • Maintenance (bug-fixing) of the client's products.

The Technology development teams use continuous delivery practices to develop across the client's Technology stacks (involving third party products such as IBM DB2, Oracle Database, Microsoft Azure, Red Hat Linux and many more) and the expectation is that the individual will become fully productive within 6-12 months, utilizing existing programming.

  • Contribute to the investigation and design of appropriate software solutions
  • Follow test driven development to enable continuous improvement
  • Undertake software development tasks
  • Evaluate and demonstrate new technologies as required
  • Devise test plans for the testing of new features
  • Perform manual testing where appropriate
  • Clearly and accurately record and report testing results
  • Assist in the production and maintenance of functional and technical documentation
  • Communicate well with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Build demo environments to be used for internal/client/conference presentations
  • Assist in diagnosing the root cause of software defects
  • Provide fixes for software defects

Entry requirements:

You need to have 7 GCSE’s:

  • English GCSE (or equivalents) at grade D or above
  • 6x GCSE’s, including Maths, at grade A-C

You must not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level, or higher level than this apprenticeship.

Future prospects:

Full time job and further upskilling in apprenticeship.
